Aurora FPS Engine combines first-person controllers, weapons, AI, inventory, gameplay systems, UI, editor tooling, utilities, and showcase scenes in a single Unity FPS framework. It includes two controller implementations based on CharacterController and Rigidbody, with the new Unity Input System integrated for cross-platform input, while the included systems cover movement, shooting, melee, health, inventory, AI, ragdolls, camera effects, settings, and more.
The player controller can be built around either CharacterController or Rigidbody, with both providing similar features and support from the other internal systems. Movement includes Walk, Run, Sprint, Crouch, Jump, and Zoom, alongside gravity, wall and roof checks, Headbob, Landing, Sprint Field of View, Sway effects, Camera Tilts, and Procedural Shake Camera effects.
Gameplay systems include an Advanced Health system with regeneration, fall damage, damage camera shakes, death, and respawn. The framework also provides Advanced Inventory, Loot, Grab, Dynamic Ragdoll, Remote body, and Procedural Footstep sound systems, with footsteps able to use different sounds for different surfaces and Terrain textures.
Weapon functionality includes both Raycast Shooting and Physics Shooting systems, allowing weapons such as rifles, shotguns, laser guns, launchers, and sniper rifles to be created from the respective systems. Grenades, melee, customizable recoil patterns, terrain-compatible decals, procedural crosshairs with hit and kill markers, reloading, weapon animation, and damage systems are also included.
AI uses both a customizable Behaviour Tree node editor and a State based system configured through the editor. AI functionality also covers Inverse Kinematics, health, Dynamic Ragdoll, animation, procedural footsteps, Raycast Shooting, Physics Shooting, melee, and decals.
The UI systems include an AAA Menu template with general, audio, graphics, and key binding settings. An Advanced save system preserves settings after the game quits. An in-game console supports custom commands through attributes, while the editor extension provides Attribute Based workflows with more than 50 Attributes, including Lists, Validators, Groups, Buttons, Views, Painters, and Components.
A Remote Controller Sync utility can automatically configure animator blend trees for a configured controller. Showcase scenes contain configured players, weapons, loot and grab objects, AI, environment models, and post processing.
The asset supports Unity 2019, Unity 2021, Unity 2022, Unity 2023, and Unity 6. Its listed render-pipeline compatibility specifies Unity 2019.4.30f1 with the Built-in Render Pipeline; URP and HDRP are marked as not compatible for that configuration. The package also includes the new Unity Input System, a Mobile Sample, and Emerald AI 3.0 Support.
