Character Customizer provides customizable male and female characters with runtime clothing and hair attachment, character randomization, and several ways to save customized characters. Character appearance can be adjusted through facial blend shapes, bone-based body customization, skin textures, color tinting, makeup, tattoos, hairstyles, and beards.
The system combines facial and body controls with interchangeable appearance elements. Facial blend shapes cover areas such as the face, nose, eyes, and mouth, while the bone-based body customization provides additional control over the character's proportions. There are 5 skin textures, tint options for lips, skin, and eyes, plus makeup and tattoos.
The character content includes 11 hairstyles and 4 beards. Hairstyles generally use physics bones, allowing them to be used with Dynamic Bone or similar systems. A bone-based face rig is also included for facial animation.
The included apparel covers tops, bottoms, footwear, and eyewear. Clothing includes Hoodie, T-shirt (female), T-shirt (male), Vest (female), Shirt (female), Shirt (male), Polo shirt (male), Tank top (male), Casual shirt (male), Crop top (female), Sleeveless shirt (female), Sweater (female), Suit jacket (male), Denim jacket (female), Leather jacket (female), and Field jacket (male).
Bottoms include Jeans (female), Baggy jeans (female), Jeans (male), Jogging pants (female), Cargo pants (male), Swimming trunks (male), and Suit pants (male). Footwear consists of Sneakers 1, Sneakers 2, Boots, Ankle boots (female), Sandals (female), Sandals (male), High heels (female), and Dress shoes. Glasses, Sunglasses, and Aviator glasses are also included.
Clothing and hair can be instantiated and attached to characters at runtime through a scriptable object workflow. Character and outfit randomizers provide a way to generate different combinations, while customized characters can be saved as prefabs, JSON, or persistent scriptable objects.
The characters use 20K triangles at LOD0 and decrease to 1.2K triangles at LOD3. Individual apparel items range from 1K to 10K triangles and have 3 LODs per item. Hair averages 5K triangles at LOD0, with the lowest LOD around 400 triangles.
A typical complete character has 40K triangles at LOD0, 20K at LOD1, 9K at LOD2, and 3K at LOD3. The system is compatible with the Built-in Render Pipeline, URP, and HDRP. HDRP and Built-in use the Shader Graph package.
