NWH Vehicle Physics 2 is a modular vehicle simulation system for wheeled vehicles, combining a configurable powertrain, wheel and suspension physics, vehicle effects, input handling, cameras, and multiplayer support. Its VehicleSetupWizard can turn a 3D model into a drivable vehicle in under 30 seconds, while the modular architecture allows individual vehicle functionality to be enabled, disabled, or extended.
The powertrain solver models inertia, torque, and angular velocity, supporting behaviors such as rolling starts and engine stalling. Engine configuration includes adjustable power curves, losses, rev limiting, forced induction through a turbocharger or supercharger, simulated fuel consumption, and both ICE and electric engines or motors.
Transmission options are Automatic, Automatic Sequential, Manual, CVT, or External, with adjustable gear ratios and shifting behavior. Differentials support Open, Locked, LSD, or External configurations, allowing drivetrain layouts such as FWD, RWD, AWD, 6×6, and 8×8.
WheelController3D provides 3D ground detection and controls for suspension and tire behavior, including spring and damper curves, bump and rebound damping, progressive springs, camber, anti-squat geometry, rim offset, inertia, drag, surface friction presets using modified Pacejka curves, custom friction curves, and individually adjustable longitudinal and lateral friction.
The external module system lets developers add or remove vehicle functionality without changing the core vehicle architecture. Included modules cover Motorcycle, Arcade, ABS, ESC, TCS, Aerodynamics, NOS (boost), Cruise Control, Flip Over, Fuel, Metrics, Rigging, Speed Limiter, Trailer + Trailer Hitch, and Air Steer.
Vehicle behavior can also be adjusted at runtime, including suspension, friction, gearing, and powertrain settings. The InputProvider system supports Input Manager, Input System, Rewired, mobile on-screen input, and steering-wheel input, with configuration for Logitech G29.
The system includes damage that affects vehicle performance and handling, with queue-based mesh deformation distributed across multiple frames. Other vehicle effects include procedural surface-dependent skidmarks, automatic surface particle effects, exhaust smoke, exhaust flames, and vehicle lighting for low beam, high beam, tail lights, brake lights, and blinkers.
A sound system provides 15+ effects with automatic AudioSource setup. VehicleChanger supports switching between cars, boats, and aircraft within NWH Physics World, including first-person enter and exit functionality.
For multiplayer projects, NWH Vehicle Physics 2 supports Mirror and Photon Unity Networking 2. Vehicle state can be transferred through a single struct, providing a basis for custom multiplayer implementations.
The camera changing system can work with any camera script, including Cinemachine. Custom editors are provided for the scripts, using the NUI editor GUI framework for the asset's editor interface.
The asset is compatible with the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) and High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP). The Built-in Render Pipeline is not compatible.
Official integrations include Rewired, Complete Terrain Shader (CTS), IK Avatar Driver, Mirror, and Photon Unity Networking 2. Full C# source code is included, and the package contains everything used in its demos.
