RayFire 2 provides runtime and editor tools for fracturing, demolishing, and slicing 3D objects, together with dynamic simulation controls for objects and their fragments. Its systems cover runtime demolition, activation, clustering, damage, debris and dust generation, recorded simulations, and several workflows for working with fragmented geometry.
The toolkit supports four simulation types: Dynamic, Sleeping, Inactive, and Kinematic. Objects can be handled as Mesh objects, Nested Clusters, or Connected Clusters, allowing destruction behavior to be applied to individual meshes or groups of child meshes.
Demolition can occur at runtime relative to a collision point, while the system also provides Activator, Combine, Recorder, and Snapshot operations. The Recorder can capture a dynamic simulation into an animation clip for runtime playback, while Snapshot can save demolished or simulated objects for loading in the editor and using them in environment modelling.
Runtime demolition can create Voronoi fragments, while RayFire Shatter properties can be used for other fragmentation types when a Shatter component is present. Runtime Caching can distribute the demolition process over time for high-poly objects, and Multi Material fragmentation supports objects with several materials while allowing a defined material for inner surfaces.
Other workflows include Collapse for pre-fragmented structures, Reset & Reuse for reusing cached fragment meshes, and Export to Unity asset for saving fragment meshes as Unity assets.
