Asset Inventory - Find Every Asset in Your Library lets you search assets from Asset Store purchases, registry packages, Unity Cloud Asset Manager projects, local folders, media libraries, archives, and custom Unity packages without importing everything first. It can bring individual files into a project with their dependencies, while providing previews, metadata, tags, and other library management features.
The Unity Asset Inventory Tool provides project-wide and library-wide search across assets you already own, downloaded, backed up, created, or collected. Search can use file name, path, package, publisher, category, tags, asset type, image dimensions, audio or video length, file size, vertex count, render pipeline compatibility, price, colors, and preview state.
Asset Inventory can generate previews for prefabs, models, FBX animations, UI, VFX, particles, fonts, videos, materials, and textures. Animated previews can play directly in search results, while custom preview processing supports asset types and rendering scenarios that are not covered by Unity's default previews.
AI captions can make assets searchable based on what their previews show, including files with generic or misleading names. Local AI workflows support Ollama and LM Studio, with configurable prompts, variables, batching, cancellation, and timeout handling.
Custom Unity MCP tools allow AI assistants to search the library, inspect packages, download missing assets, import individual files, tag content, run custom actions, and export data. This provides access to library assets that are not already imported into the current project.
Current Project Mode searches assets already inside a Unity project without indexing the project first. Assets can be filtered to the current project or combined with the full library, while the tool can also show asset usage, package origins, and dependencies when removing imported files.
Individual files can be imported instead of importing an entire package. Dependency analysis covers prefabs, materials, scripts, FBX files, and scenes, with extended script and asmdef analysis. Packages can also be imported in bulk, while models and audio can be placed directly into the Scene or Hierarchy by dragging them.
Asset Inventory can import Asset Store labels, create hierarchical tags, tag packages or individual files, assign colors, add custom metadata fields, and hide irrelevant files, folders, or extensions. Assets can also be grouped by publisher, category, state, and tags, with bulk operations available across large asset collections.
The tool can automatically back up Asset Store packages, back up its database and configuration, scan for packages that may become unavailable, export license and package data, detect orphaned content, and inspect used or unidentified files.
