Pixel Heroes: Fantasy Editor is a modular character builder for creating pixel-art characters and saving their animations as sprite sheets. Characters are assembled in the editor with 64x64 frames, equipment and painted parts, while a character builder script can also be used to construct characters at runtime.
The editor supports character customization with equipment, particularly weapons, and allows individual parts to be painted. The animation set includes Idle, Ready, Walking, Running, Crawling, Climbing, Jumping, Blocking, Pushing, Attacking with Slash, Jab and Shot variations, and Death. A unified animation controller is included for all characters.
Runtime appearance changes use SpriteLibrary and SpriteResolver for swapping skins. Example scripts cover character controls and switching, while service scripts provide Window, Pixel Heroes and Sprite Library Setup functionality. Particle examples for running and jumping dust are also included.
The package follows the ENDESGA 64 palette and includes 8 bonus monsters: Goblin, Goblin Archer, Orc, Skeleton, Slug, Hog, Wolf and Troll. It also provides 3 bonus containers: Barrel, Box and Chest.
The CharacterEditor scene is used to generate characters, while demo scenes are available in the Demo folder. Textures are automatically sliced when saved to Assets, and a Sprite Library Asset can be created during the save process. Generated PNG sprite sheets can also be imported into other software, making the character output usable beyond Unity.
The asset is compatible with the Built-in Render Pipeline, URP and HDRP. It requires com.unity.2d.animation, uses C# source code with comments, and supports PC, Android, iOS and WebGL. Unity 2022+ is supported.
